Alex joined the Bank of Montreal in 2012. He provides macroeconomic monitoring and analysis for BMO’s risk management and capital planning processes. Team lead for the Federal Reserve’s stress tests, he also works on Canadian regulatory initiatives, while conducting country risk reviews and industry risk analysis for the enterprise. His industry expertise of the automotive and forestry industries is widely distributed to clients and the media.
Before joining BMO, Alex worked as an economist at another major Canadian financial institution for four years in economic research. His areas of focus were the Canadian Provincial economies as well as North American consumer trends.
Alex holds an Honours Bachelor of Arts degree from Brock University and a Masters’ degree in Economics from Queen's University. He studied French throughout his educational career and is bilingual.
